Great session! Hot September weather and some stonking wind.
Arrived at 10.45 and the wind looked a bit fluky by the beach and the tide
was rushing out so I opted for my 5.8 and the Flow. Seemed like a good
choice as there were some lulls and the curent took me down the channel
when not powered up. However, once down wind towards the mouth of the
estuary I was well overpowered but just hung on and enjoyed the mad
blasting.
As it got nearer to low tide the current eased a little and the wind picked
up, double whammy so in a couple of runs I was back upwind at the beach.
Time for a quick snack and a change down to the 5.0m.
Stayed on the flow as that seemed about right and headed back out. Spent
the afternoon on a carve gybe practice session trying strap to straps when
overpowered. Seemed like I'd almost got it cracked but not quite, still
loosing it on the rig flip and going off the back. But I think if it stick
at fixing this then my step gybe exits will speed up as I think its a
timing thing. Still good progress cause I often don't even try to gybe when
way overpowered.
At about 3.30/4.00pm the wind went balistic sending me back upwind to the
beach to get my wave board. It was now a solid F6-7 22-31 knots. Had a few
runs on the wave board but couldn't be bothered to change down to the 4.5m
which would have been better, then packed up as I was shattered.
Great day off!
